West Point’s Comprehensive Character Development System

West Point’s William E. Simon Center for the Professional Military Ethic (SCPME) has pioneered the first Character Academic Individual Advanced Development (AIAD) program.

As part of the Academy’s Character Development System, this program enhances cadets’ understanding of moral leadership through hands-on learning. Last summer, cadets traveled to Washington, DC, visiting sites like Georgetown University and Arlington National Cemetery, while engaging in discussions on ethics and honor.

The Character AIAD provides cadets with unique insights into leadership principles and will expand this year with trips to Washington, DC, and Europe, fostering experiential learning on moral leadership and officership.
